Take a moment to observe the image ( also available on the following link: http://waece.org/contenido/noticias/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/e-sdgs-poster-768x456.png.
Then discuss as a class and amongst each other:
• What do you see, on the visual level?
• What is your initial impression?
• Are you already familiar with this image? How familiar? Or, is it entirely new to you?
• What makes sense/ what doesn’t make sense?
• Do you think this image are able to resonate universally? Why or why not?
Later, s/he will explain:
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership.
They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
Facilitator will say “Every positive action you take, no matter how small, has the power to make a difference”.
170 daily actions:
Shows the "170 shares" document: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iMdE6DLLuCqwq3K9U-DaTUWB6KyMa8QG/view
Children from 9 to 11 years old can change the world with small actions. That's what they're going to do.
For each of the 17 Objectives, 10 different actions are shown. Each student must choose at least one of each SDG and carry it out for at least one week (or the time that the teacher considers appropriate based on the workload that the child has in relation to the curriculum materials).
After that week, the children will gather in an assembly to share their experience with their classmates.
You can finish this activity by inviting them to be “change-maker” and SDG Ambassador. Because every little step matters. Inform your colleagues, family, friends and community about simple actions that they can take in their daily lives to help achieve the SDGs.
Second part: LLL (2 days session)
Facilitator will say:
We have learnt that we need the SDG to transform the world. But as Irina Bokova, former Director-General of UNESCO dais “there is no more powerful transformative force than education—to promote human rights and dignity, to eradicate poverty and deepen sustainability, to build a better future for all, founded on equal rights and social justice, respect for cultural diversity, and international solidarity and shared responsibility, all of which are fundamental aspects of our common humanity."
The European Union supports and reinforces the development of key competences and basic skills for all, from an early age and throughout life. Key competences include knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed by all for personal fulfillment and development, employability, social inclusion and active citizenship.
There are eight key competences needed for personal fulfillment, a healthy and sustainable lifestyle, employability, active citizenship and social inclusion:
• Literacy
• Multilingualism
• Numerical, scientific and engineering skills
• Digital and technology-based competences
• Interpersonal skills, and the ability to adopt new competences
• Active citizenship
• Entrepreneurship
• Cultural awareness and expression
Divide the class into 8 groups and assign a Competence to each group. Give them time to investigate at home so that they are able to explain to the rest of their classmates what the competence consists of.

Encourage children’s questions: each question from a child is a gift.
Questions give you new insights that help you understand the child, provide the best support, and meet their learning needs.
